Reflection Space (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our iOS and Android applications.
Reflection Space is designed as a personal reflection and mindfulness tool. We believe your thoughts and reflections are deeply personal, and we’ve built our app with privacy as a core principle.

Automatically Collected Data
We collect limited analytics data locally on your device to improve your experience:
- App usage patterns (e.g., reflection frequency, feature usage)
- App performance metrics
- Milestone achievements
Important: All of this data is processed and stored locally on your device. We do not transmit it to external analytics services.
Where Your Data Lives
iCloud Sync (iOS)
On iOS, Reflection Space uses Apple’s iCloud to sync your data across your devices. This means:
- Your reflections, templates, and preferences are stored in your personal iCloud account
- Data syncs automatically between your Apple devices signed into the same iCloud account
- Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple
- We do not have access to your iCloud data
You can manage iCloud sync in your device’s Settings under iCloud > Apps Using iCloud.
On-Device Storage (Android)
On Android there is no cloud sync of any kind: your reflections, templates, and preferences are stored only in the app’s private storage on your device. To move or safeguard your data you can export a complete backup file from Settings and keep it wherever you choose; restoring it on another device is entirely in your hands. We never receive a copy.
AI Features & Third-Party Services
Reflection Space offers optional AI-powered features to enhance your reflection experience. When you choose to use these features:
Your Choice: AI features are entirely optional. You can use Reflection Space without ever enabling AI functionality.
How AI Features Work
- On-Device AI: When available, we prioritize Apple’s on-device intelligence, which processes data locally without sending it to external servers.
- Third-Party AI Providers: For advanced AI features, you may choose to connect your own API key from providers like OpenAI or Anthropic. When using these services: only the specific content you choose to analyze is sent to the AI provider; your API key is stored securely in your device’s Keychain; data is transmitted directly between your device and the AI provider; and we do not store or have access to your conversations with AI providers.

Data Security
We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information:
- All data is stored locally on your device — using Apple’s secure SwiftData framework on iOS, and app-private storage protected by Android’s file-based encryption on Android
- Sensitive information (like API keys) is stored in the iOS Keychain or the Android Keystore
- iCloud data (iOS) is encrypted using Apple’s security infrastructure
- We do not operate external servers that store your personal data
Website Analytics
This website — reflectionspace.io — uses Google Analytics to understand which pages help people find the app. Google signals and ads-personalization features are disabled; we use it only to count visits and page views. A consent banner lets you decline, and declining is remembered on this device.
The app is different: the Reflection Space app itself contains no analytics of any kind, first-party or otherwise — see the sections above.
Your Rights & Control
You have full control over your data:
- Access: All your data is visible within the app
- Export: Settings includes a full export that writes your templates, questions, metrics, and every entry as plain text
- Delete: You can delete any reflection or template at any time
- Account Deletion: Uninstalling the app removes all local data. On iOS, also remove the iCloud copy via Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Manage Storage; on Android there is no cloud copy
Children’s Privacy
Reflection Space is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “Last updated” date.
